AP-PLAT is an online platform that provides climate change risk information to support effective climate risk management through adaptation.

Platform summary

The Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (AP-PLAT) is a web-based information system that provides Asia-Pacific countries with information on the climate change impacts and adaptation. The platform also converts scientific climate risk dataset and information into actual adaptation policies and practical actions on the ground. It will provide data on climate scenarios including future temperature and precipitation changess, flood risks and possible impacts of climate change on rice crops and livestock farming.

The platform is developed to provide a space to communicate and facilitate partnerships and collaboration to adapt to climate-resilient and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region.

Host Organisation: This platform is funded and operated by the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES)

Launch date: AP-PLAT was officially launched in 2019

Update status: The platform was last updated in May 2021

Funding: The Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (A-PLAT) and the Asia-Pacific Adaptation Information Platform (AP-PLAT) are commissioned by the ministry with the annual budget of approximately 290,000,000 JPY (€2,175,000)

Team: The A-PLAT and AP-PLAT team consists of approximately 40 people

Why the platform was established

After the formulation of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), the Ministry of the Environment (MoEJ) and NIES agreed to develop an information platform to disseminate and promote adaptation actions.
