Focus group #1, pilot region Dresden, people with disabilities

Summary

The document records the results of a focus grorup in the pilot region Dresden on 27 May 2024. People with disabilities were invited to talk about heatwaves, their experience with and what could help to handle them.

The current situation – a lack of awareness of the consequences of heat, a lack of early warning systems and limited access to information for particularly vulnerable groups – is introduced and the importance of accessibility and positive communication emphasized.

Three key solutions are presented:

• An accessible app/map showing drinking water points, cool places and heat hotspots.
• An awareness campaign that communicates risks and protective measures.
