AGORA CO-Creation Workshop – Entstandene Lösungen

The Adaptation AGORA project shows that climate adaptation requires inclusive communication, citizen participation, practical education, and sustainable financing to ensure resilient and equitable solutions.

Summary

Climate adaptation requires action on many levels. It ranges from effective communication and education to technical measures to ensure basic needs such as access to drinking water and accessible toilets. At the same time, many necessary measures cannot be implemented without viable financing mechanisms.

As part of the Adaptation AGORA project, the following ideas were developed in consultation with citizens
in order to make progress in these areas:

  • Climate adaptation should be communicated in a positive and inclusive manner in order to reduce fears
    and reach all social groups.
  • A participatory map could highlight publicly accessible drinking water stations, shaded areas and other resources – as a basis for joint action.
  • Young people want practical workshops at school and opportunities to get involved in a flexible and meaningful way outside of class.
  • Funding must go beyond project-related approaches, and public funding for individual measures such as home renovations or green roofs should be better publicised and specifically expanded.

The following sections report on how these topics and ideas were discussed and further developed
in the co-creation workshop ‘Climate Adaptation in Dresden’.

The document is written in german.
