Tackling Urban Heat Vulnerability: Key Insights from Malmö and Valencia
On December 5th, the second peer-to-peer learning event took place, titled “Engaging local communities in heatwave preparedness and response: a dialogue with the cities of Malmö and Valencia”. The event focused on inclusive engagement strategies for adaptation to extreme heat events.
With the help of Emanuel Toft and Ludwig Sonesson (City of Malmö), Mathilda Englund (Stockholm Environment Institute and Linköping University) and Emilio Servera-Martinez (València Clima i Energia, Valencia City Council), we explored insights, challenges, and practical approaches or solutions on how to best engage and protect local communities, especially the groups who are disproportionately affected by heatwaves.
