Summary

Adaptation AGORA, together with CLIMASI-CHANGE, PRO-CLIMATE, organizes “Citizens together for climate adaptation” a starting point to test new developed tools and effective methodologies for future scenario planning, to engage citizens in mapping local vulnerabilities and resources, to encourage citizens to report real-time climate-related challenges and to facilitate small group discussions to explore trade-offs in climate adaptation measures.

Climate change and citizen engagement are deeply interconnected. Engaging citizens in the fight against climate change is essential for creating sustainable solutions and ensuring widespread participation.

Campaigns, workshops, and community events can empower citizens to advocate for policy changes and climate justice, and they can serve as a bridge between local communities and global initiatives. Engaged citizens can pressure governments to implement stronger environmental regulations and commit to international climate agreements. Individuals can reduce their carbon footprint by adopting sustainable habits such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and choosing eco-friendly transportation. Citizens, civil society organizations, academics, experts, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and other key actors must collaborate in the co-design and co-creation of innovative, problem-focused climate adaptation solutions that can be widely implemented across Europe.

Several tools can be used to engage citizens to help raise awareness and inspire actions, involving citizens in these efforts, with a sense of environmental responsibility and strengthen support for adaptation measures.

The objective of this event is to support a transition toward climate resilience by contributing to an innovative, problem-driven climate adaptation, co-designed with stakeholders using a values-based approach, design thinking methodologies, and citizen science mechanisms.
